New York City – Today, Mayor Bloomberg said he is not going to “rush into” building the Freedom Tower until security concerns are addressed. Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-Queens & Brooklyn) released the following statement:

“Safety and security must be job one in the post 9/11 New York. It is hard to avoid the conclusion that Mayor Bloomberg has lost this focus.

“It is simply not credible to believe that a concern as basic as the location of the Freedom Tower was not raised by the NYPD before.

“I hope this gets the Mayor’s attention back to where it should have been in the first place.”
