WEINER:
MAYOR’S DECISION TO DELEGATE GROUND ZERO
“AN ABJECT FAILURE OF LEADERSHIP”
New York City – This morning, while speaking at the Landmark West Breakfast, Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-Queens & Brooklyn) said that Mayor Bloomberg should not have entrusted the World Trade Center redevelopment to Governor Pataki.
Both the Mayor's and the Governor’s offices criticized the comment, with the Governor’s spokesperson calling Weiner a “political opportunist”.
Weiner released the following statement:
“It was an abject failure of leadership for the Mayor to turn over such an important New York City project to a Governor who has shown such disregard for New York City priorities.
“Regardless of party, I will always put the people of New York City first.”
