WEINER:

STADIUM’S ULTIMATE UNDOING? IT’S A BAD IDEA

New York City – Today, a lawsuit aimed at stopping the West Side stadium was dismissed. Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-Queens & Brooklyn) released the following statement:

“Today’s ruling was but one of what is likely to be many legal challenges to this project. It is sure to be appealed. And it does little to put to rest troubling questions about the manner in which City Hall orchestrated the Hudson Rail Yard bids.

“But it won’t be lawsuits and legal battles that kill the West Side stadium.

“Its ultimate undoing will be that it’s just a bad idea.

“New Yorkers understand that, and they’ll have a chance to make their feelings known in November.”

Weiner first announced his opposition to the West Side stadium deal last April, and has released two reports questioning the wisdom of the West Side stadium deal. He proposes adopting the planned expansion of the Jacob Javits Convention Center to accommodate world class conventions, but return the Jets to their rightful home by exploring the sitting of the new stadium in Willets Point, Queens.
