CUSICK: “WEINER WILL FIGHT FOR STATEN ISLAND”

Staten Island, NY – Today, State Assemblyman Michael J. Cusick (D-Staten Island) announced his support for Rep. Anthony Weiner’s (D-Queens & Brooklyn) campaign for Mayor.

“Anthony Weiner is a proven fighter for all Staten Islanders,” said Assemblyman Cusick. “He’ll give teachers the salaries they deserve so that we can keep the best and the brightest in our schools, he’ll restore discipline to our classrooms by giving authority back to our teachers and principals, and he’ll cut income taxes on all middle class families by 10%. That’s the new kind of leadership we need in City Hall, not more of the same.

“Anthony Weiner understands the needs of Staten Islanders. We need a fighter in City Hall, and that’s why I am endorsing Anthony Weiner.”

Weiner said: “I am honored to stand side by side with a great leader for Staten Island like Michael Cusick. From our shared years as an aide to Senator Chuck Schumer until today he’s been one of the fiercest, most determined fighters for Staten Island in the City. Whether fighting traffic congestion or to protect Staten Island’s natural resources or to correct unfair fees, there is no more tenacious fighter for Staten Island than Michael Cusick. He is the perfect example of the kind of leader who will stand up for Staten Island for generations to come.”

Assemblyman Cusick announced his support on the steps of Borough Hall. Cusick and Weiner were joined by Staten Island supporters of Weiner’s mayoral campaign.

Cusick and Weiner worked together for Senator Chuck Schumer.
