WEINER TELEVISION CAMPAIGN SHIFTS INTO HIGH GEAR

2ND AND 3RD COMMERCIALS IN ROTATION STARTING TUESDAY

TALKS ABOUT HIS VISION FOR A MIDDLE CLASS TAX CUT,
RAISING TEACHER PAY, GETTING BACK TO BASICS IN THE CLASSROOM,
AND RESTORING DISCIPLINE TO OUR SCHOOLS

New York City – In a sign that Rep. Anthony Weiner’s (D-Queens & Brooklyn) television campaign is shifting into high gear, today the Weiner campaign unveiled its second and third campaign commercials. The spots will enter into television rotation starting Tuesday.

The ads focus on the central themes of Weiner’s candidacy: a middle class tax cut, raising teacher pay, getting back to basics in the classroom and restoring discipline to our schools. Both ads were produced by media consultant Jim Margolis of GMMB, an issues communications firm in Washington D.C.

The first ad is entitled “Diner” and will begin airing on August 30th. It depicts Weiner in a diner in the Brooklyn neighborhood where he grew up, talking about his 10% tax cut on anyone making $150,000 a year or less, as well his plan to create a new tax bracket for millionaires and to cut the 5% least performing programs from the City budget every year.

The second ad is entitled “PS 39” and will be put into rotation later this week. In it, Weiner stands in front of his elementary school—he went to public schools his whole life--and talks about his plans to pay teacher more while getting rid of those who don’t perform, restoring discipline to our schools and getting back to basics in our classrooms. The ad features Weiner’s mom Fran, a 31 year veteran public school teacher.

“My campaign is about the middle class and those aspiring to get there,” said Rep. Weiner. “We need a tax cut for middle class families, and better schools, with a pay raise for hard working teachers, order in our hallways and a back to basics curriculum that works in our classrooms. Those are real solutions for real people.”

Weiner’s first television ad of the campaign, “Homeplate” began airing on August 19.
