WEINER UNVEILS FIRST TELEVISION AD OF MAYORAL CAMPAIGN
CAMPAIGN WILL BE ON THE AIR FOR THE REST OF THE PRIMARY
New York City – Today, Rep. Anthony Weiner unveiled the first television ad of his mayoral campaign.
The ad, titled “Homeplate”, was produced by Weiner’s media consultant Jim Margolis of GMMB, an issues communications firm in Washington D.C.
It will begin airing on both cable and network television this Friday, and will run through August 29th. The Weiner campaign has purchased $686,178 worth of television time for this initial buy, with an additional $1.8 million purchased between August 30 and September 13.
Beginning Friday, the Weiner campaign will have television spots on the air for the rest of the campaign.
The ad depicts Weiner in the neighborhood where he grew up in Brooklyn, talking about his ideas for a middle class tax cut, cutting waste out of the city budget, giving teachers the pay raise they deserve, and restoring discipline to our classrooms. The spot also features Weiner’s mother, a 31 year veteran of New York City public schools. A complete frame by frame is attached to this release.
“This is about who I am, and what I am going to do as mayor of New York City,” said Rep. Weiner. “I grew up in a middle class family in Brooklyn. My mother taught in our public schools for 31 years. The middle class needs meaningful tax relief and safe schools with the best teachers, and that’s what I’ll fight for as Mayor.”
In July, GMMB produced an internet ad for the Weiner campaign, which can be found at www.anthonyweiner.com
