WEINER’S RIVERDALE SUPPORT CONTINUES TO GROW

Riverdale, Bronx, NY – Today, State Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (D-Bronx) announced his support for Rep. Anthony Weiner’s (D-Queens & Brooklyn) campaign for Mayor. The announcement comes on the heels of the endorsement of Weiner last month by the Benjamin Franklin Reform Democratic Club, the largest Democratic Club in the Bronx.

“Anthony Weiner is a proven fighter for Riverdale and the northwest Bronx,” said Assemblyman Dinowitz. “When the Mayor turned his back on our community and tried to put a mammoth water filtration plant in Van Cortlandt Park, Anthony Weiner stood with us and fought back. He’s standing with us in the fight to make sure meals-on-wheels works for our homebound seniors. He’s standing with us in the fight to expand senior hours on our express buses. He’ll stand with us in City Hall.

“Anthony Weiner understands the needs of Riverdale and the northwest Bronx. We need a fighter in City Hall who will take on powerful interests no matter what the odds. He speaks his mind and says what he believes. That is what’s right for the people of our great city, and that’s why I am endorsing Anthony Weiner for Mayor in the Democratic Party primary.”

Weiner said: “Jeffrey Dinowitz is a great leader for Riverdale and a great leader for New York City. He understands Riverdale, and Riverdale’s values. Whether fighting to stop the water filtration plant and the accompanying pollution, gridlock and smog it would bring to the community, or standing up for our seniors, Jeffrey Dinowitz is a tenacious fighter for his constituents. I am proud to stand with him, and I am honored to have his support.”

Assemblyman Dinowitz announced his support on the steps of City Hall, in Manhattan. Dinowitz and Weiner were joined by Riverdale supporters of Weiner’s mayoral campaign.
