Mayoral hopeful promises tax cut

By Maggie Haberman

MAYORAL candidate Anthony Weiner promised yesterday to give middle-class New Yorkers a 10% break on their income taxes if elected – and to boost taxes on city millionaires.

Speaking at Fordham University Law School, the Democratic congressman from Queens said anyone making less than $150,000 per year would be eligible for the cut, which his campaign estimated would cost $206 million per year.

To help pay for the new cuts, Weiner said he would raise the top marginal tax rate on incomes over $1 million to 4.67%, up from 4.175% – raising about $79 million.
